The Last Post

Toots. 2002-2022

Sadly we have to report that our faithful shipmate, Toots who joined us in Oct 2002 when she was 2 months old, has died. We had her put down on Tuesday May 17, 2022.

Ten weeks on I still can't write that without tears streaming and for both of us it was the hardest and most painful decision we ever made.

I very much doubt there will be any further posts

  1. We remain so sorry for you both. Such a special shipmate, with a life to be greatly celebrated. She was a mere youngster when we first met all those years ago and her faithful service as Admiral of the good ship Hannah was something truly remarkable. You served her well, and I hope in time, will be able to remember her with happiness and joy. Sending love and hugs to you both x

  3. Dear Bee and Mike. A lot of water has passed under our keels since I last saw you, but I have kept an eye out for your occasional postings. I am so very sorry to hear about Toots. We get so fond of these little animals: they ask little from us and give much in return. I can imagine the gap that has been left in your lives.

I'm sorry not to have been in touch. Life. And my own sailing being very unexciting when compared with yours. But pottering about living aboard the wee boat that suits me perfectly, is enough for me. Lots of love to both of you. Annie xxx

  4. How terribly sad. I still miss my wonderful Sinbad and have a very real idea of what you are going through. Much love,

  5. That is so sad. I know the pain and heartache of having to put down my boy, only when all hope was gone and the life had gone out of his eyes.
I'm sure Toots was/is as precious to you as Aesir was to me.

  6. Never say Never again. My first contact w you....but I can say my little rescue dog Topper has literally saved my life twice. He's sleeping on my feet as I write this, and I say the best way to keep them in your hearts, is to never stop writing about them, and their legacy. Scott at Landscapemakeoverdesign@gmail.com

  7. sad to read about Toots - but what a life she had, saw more of the world than I ever have or ever will. Bun is 15 and a bit and it is getting towards that time for him too I fear, but he doesn’t know and still gets up and gets out there! x
